• The Portuguese Journal of Pulmonology is the official journal of the Portuguese Society of Pulmonology (Sociedade Portuguesa de Pneumologia/SPP), with current editor Dr. Renato Sotto-Mayor. The aim of the journal is to publish scientific work which is either directly or indirectly related to the respiratory system. This work can range from original articles, revised articles, letters to the editor, editorials, reviews of international work, case studies, technical notes, studies, summaries of oral communications and posters presented at the Portuguese Society of Pulmonology’s Annual Congress and other work of recognised scientific merit.
  The work covers all areas of Pulmonolgy from basic science to clinical practice and research.
  The Portuguese Journal of Pulmonology (Revista Portuguesa de Pneumologia) is in its 11th year of publication and has been referenced on Embase, Excerpta Medica Database since January 2001 (vol. VII) and on Index Medicus MEDLINE, PubMED since January 2003 (vol. IX).
  
• The journal is published bi-monthly (with 6 editions per year) and in addition 2-3 annual supplements are published. These bear the title REV PORT PNEUMOL.
  

• Embase, Excerpta Medica Database (since January 2001 (vol. VII), on Index Medicus, MEDLINE, PubMED (since January 2003/vol. IX), in the Index das Revistas Médicas Portuguesas (for over 10 years) and in FREE MEDICAL JOURNALS, Web of Science (Thomson Reuteurs) since 2008.

• Portuguese Journal of Pulmonology (Revista Portuguesa de Pneumologia)/the Portuguese Society of Pulmonology (Sociedade Portuguesa de Pneumologia) .

• The journal’s current sponsor is the Glaxo SmithKline company (for the 6 annual editions). The majority of the costs incurred in the supplements are covered by several pharmaceutical companies taking out paid advertising in them. Any other expenses are born by the Portuguese Society of Pulmonology
