La historiografía de tema medieval hispano una reflexión sobre el oficio y la producción del medievalista en los años 1982 a 2007

O sistema das ciências num esquema do século XII no manuscrito 17 de Santa Cruz de Coimbra (Porto, BPM, Geral 21)

Resumo O ms 17 de Santa Cruz de Coimbra (agora Porto, BPM, Geral 21) contém o texto integral das Etimologias de Isidoro de Sevilha. N0 verso do fólio inicial deste manuscrito, que estava em branco, alguém traçou um esquema geométrico de divisão daciência (scientia) ou filosofia, com diversos ramos e sub-ramos. Neste estudo investigasse a importância da questão da divisão da ciência, procurando na tradição textual e em outros esquemas semelhantes, quais são as opções teóricas e as fontes do esquema no manuscrito de Coimbra. O esquema reflecte o estado da questão no final do século XII, em ruptura com o simples modelo das 7 artes liberais, e denuncia a influência das escolas de Paris do século, em particular dos Vitorinos e da Escola de Conches, com as artes mecanicae de Hugo de s. Victor e várias outras opções que se podem encontrar em Guilherme de Conches. Nas décadas seguintes, com as novas traduções paripatéticas, sobretudo arabo-latinas, os esquemas estariam de novo a ser alterados para acolher as novas ciências, mas algumas delas já estavam contempladas em esquemas como o de Coimbra, que integra a classificação aristotélica da Filosofia, também transmitida por Isidoro de Sevilha.

Abstract The ms. 17 of Santa Cruz de Coimbra (now Porto, BPM, Geral 21) includes the complete text of Isidore of Seville’s Etymologies. In the back of the initial folio of this manuscript, which was blank, someone drew the geometric diagram of the division of science (scientia) or philosophy, with several branches and sub-branches. In this study it is analysed the importance of the division of science, searching in the textual tradition and in other similar diagrams, which are the theoretical options and sources of the diagram included in Coimbra’s manuscript. The diagram reflects the state of the discussion in the late 12th century, going against the simple model of the 7 liberal arts, and reveals the influences of the schools of Paris, especially the Victorines, and the School of Conches, with the artes mecanicae of Hugh of St. Victor and several other options that can be found in William of Conches. In the following decades, with the new peripatetic Arabic-Latin translations, the diagrams would be once again changed to include the new sciences, but some of them were already part of diagrams such as the Coimbra one, which includes the Aristotelian classification of Philosophy, also transmitted by Isidore of Seville.

As ordens religiosas na diocese de Évora 1165 - 1540

Resumo O estudo que se apresenta consiste numa análise do processo de implantação do clero regular na diocese de Évora, ao longo de um período que medeia entre a data de restauração da diocese e a data de elevação da sua catedral à dignidade de metrópole, ou seja, entre 1165 e 1540. Durante este período procurou-se entender a fixação das ordens religiosas na diocese, não só no âmbito da história política do território em causa, mas também das estratégias de ordenação eclesiástica do território e dos objectivos de cada uma das ordens.

Abstract This article introduces an analysis of the regular clergy settlement in the diocese of Évora between 1165 - year of the re-establishment of the diocese - and 1540, when it was decreed as metropolis It presents a study of the settlement of religious orders in the diocese of Évora during this period, in order to understand how that process was related both to the political history of the region and to the strategies of the ecclesiastical organisation of the territory, mentioning as well the aims of each order.

La vocation scolaire de la chapelle de maître Pierre de Lisbonne au XIV^e siècle

Resumo Associadas a elementos de memorização familiar e votiva, as capelas podem igualmente definir-se em função de uma vocação escolar como demonstra as fundações efectuadas, ao longo do século XIV, em torno da capela de Santa Ana estabelecida na igreja de S. Lourenço de Lisboa por Mestre Pedro. Tais instituições visam garantir ou coadjuvar a aprendizagem formal dos membros da família deste último a nível elementar e a nível superior, a qual se tornará uma parte importante da projecção do grupo familiar na sociedade política do Portugal de Trezentos.

Abstract Associated to the memorization of the family, the chantries can also be defined through a scholarly purpose as shown by the Fourteenth-Century foundations made at Saint-Anne’s chapel founded in the church of Saint-Lawrence of Lisbon by Master Peter. Such institutions pretend to assure and to help the acquisition by certain members of his family of a formal education at elementary and superior levels. We will see that this formal learning will be an important part of the preeminence of his family in the political society of Fourteenth-Century Portugal.

As discussões historiográficas em torno do Infante Santo

Resumo Este artigo é um balanço historiográfico dos estudos sobre o Infante Santo. Foi dividido em cinco temas principais pesquisados pelos historiadores. No início, há o estudo sobre o culto público e sua ação política. Depois, há os debates sobre a expedição de Tânger, as diferentes formas da sua representação, a produção de sua memória de santidade e, por último, há os debates sobre os novos problemas no estudo do Infante Santo.

Abstract This article is a historiographic balance of the studies about the Infante Santo. It was divided in five main subjects searched by historians. In the beginning, there is the study of his public cult and his politic action. Afterwards, there are the debates about the Tânger expedition, the different ways of his representation, the production of his holy memory and, at last, there are the debates about the new problems in the Infante Santo’s studies.
