^lpt^aOs autores apresentam uma breve revisão bibliográfica suportada num caso clínico sobre uma entidade rara e benigna que surge normalmente ao nível da mão. A BPOP e o condroma periosteal são clinicamente muito semelhantes. A história clínica e exame físico não são suficientes para fazer o diagnóstico diferencial. A histopatologia é a melhor ferramenta para a diferenciação entre estas duas lesões. Ambas estas lesões devem ser consideradas no diagnóstico diferencial das lesões tumorais da mão. A melhor forma de diferenciação é o exame histopatológico que deve ser realizado de modo a obter um diagnóstico definitivo. A BPOP tem um alto índice de recorrência sendo que a sua exérese cirúrgica de modo a se proceder a um diagnóstico certo e diminuir risco recorrência é o tratamento de eleição.^len^aThe authors present a brief literature review supported on a case report of a rare and benign lesion which normally affects the hand. BPOP and periosteal chondroma are clinically very similar. The clinical history and physical examination are not sufficient to make the differential diagnosis. Histopathology examination makes differentiation between these two lesions. Both of these lesions should be considered in the differential diagnosis of hand tumours. Diagnosis is made by histopathological examination and it should be performed in order to obtain a definitive diagnosis. The BPOP has a high recurrence rate and so radical surgical excision is mandatory in order to make a certain diagnosis and decrease recurrence risk.
