Objective: To report the prevalence of scoliosis in a total population of children with Cerebral Palsy and analyze the relation between scoliosis, Cobb angle, motor function (GMFCS) and type of cerebral palsy. Material and Methods: A retrospective epidemiological study based on clinical and radiological records of a total population of children with Cerebral Palsy, between 6 and 12 years old, followed in the Association of Porto of Cerebral Palsy. Results: Of the 157 children with CP between 6 and 12 years old, 15% had scoliosis. There is a statistically significant relation between tetraplegia, the GMFCS level V and the presence of scoliosis. Conclusions: Children with GMFCS level V and tetraplegia have a higher probability to develop scoliosis. Due to the high prevalence of scoliosis in children with GMFCS V, this study shows the need for all to be screened at least after 6 years.
