TARQUINI, Oliana et al. Fixação transpedicular percutânea em fraturas toraco-lombares. []. , 21, 3, pp.357-361. ISSN 1646-2122.

Eleven patients were studied, with a total of fourteen type A1.2 (AO-Margel classification) vertebra fractures in the thoraco-lumbar region. All fractures were treated surgically by means of minimally invasive transpedicular fixation. During clinical and radiological follow-up, for a minimal period of six month, was noticed that eight of the patients maintained the segmental and the local kyphotic angle, which they had on the immediate post-op, and that three patients were even worse. After a thorough clinical evaluation the authors came to the conclusion that the failure cases were due to a initial misclassification of the fractures, that actually were of the type A3.1 (AO-Margel classification). In conclusion the author´s state that the minimally invasive transpedicular fixation is a valid safe and efficient therapeutic option for the compression vertebra fractures (A1, AO-Margel classification) but shouldn´t be used for the type A3.1 (AO-Margel classification).
