SARAIVA, Daniel et al. Via anterior directa na artroplastia da anca: Técnica cirúrgica e resultados preliminares. []. , 22, 1, pp.67-77. ISSN 1646-2122.

The anterior direct approach is an alternative to the classic transmuscular approaches to perform total hip arthroplasties. We present a retrospective study that studies the results of 35 patients who received the direct anterior approach for total arthroplasties of the hip, divided in 25 primary arthrosis and 10 femoral neck fractures. The mean follow-up time in the group of primary arthrosis was 13,5 months (6-24months) and in the group of femoral neck fractures was 14,2 months (7-21 months). This study confirms the anterior directa approach as a safe procedure for all patients, with precise component placement e low complication rates. In this intermuscular approach, the patient recovers from the surgical procedure and not from the approach, which allows for a quicker recovery without movement restriction or permisson to bear load, with distinct benefits on the ouctcomes directly focused on patients.
