Hip fusion has served well for many years as the surgical procedure of choice to treat painful joints with severe osteoarthritis, trauma sequel or infectious arthritis. Despite the good results obtained in pain relief, functional limitations resulting from this technique allowed the growing preference for total arthroplasty. However, in some conditions, hip fusion may be a good treatment option for selected patients. In this paper the authors report the clinical case of a patient undergoing hip fusion after a traumatic event, discussing the results and the technique validity.
