Stress fractures are common injuries of excessive use of the bone that is most frequently observed in athletes and military personnel, occurring when bone is affected by low-intensity trauma, but repeatedly for a long period. The incidence of stress fractures varies between studies, but they are more common in the lower limbs, with the metatarsus being more common, followed by the calcaneus. Of all tarsal fractures, cuneiform fractures are the rarest. The symptomatology consists of pain, with local edema and sensitivity to palpation at the fracture site.
