Abstract

OLIVEIRA, Ricardo Soares de. Africa after the Cold War. Relações Internacionais [online]. 2009, n.24, pp.93-114. ISSN 1645-9199.

This essay represents the afterword of the re-edition of «História de África» by J. D. Fage. We will discuss three main arguments: first, the structural African changes to interact with the international system were already moving since the seventies; second, the Africa marginalization was not a mutual process, and finally, we will argue that in a near future it is difficult to expand liberal democracy or industrial capitalism in the African continent.

Keywords : Africa; Cold War; decolonization; democracy.
