Abstract

MONTOYA HORTELANO, Josep. Gili, a walk in the South American modernity: Relations and situations in Jaime Gili's art work. Estúdio [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.9, pp.240-246. ISSN 1647-6158.

In the presentation we look at the positioning of Jaime Gili as a painter who takes a dual reality between the contexts of South America and Europe. We look at the relationships and situations that frame his work. Since 2002 his work has been contextualized as the continuation of a tradition of Latin American abstraction, especially the optical and kinetic Venezuelan art. His work ranges from popular collaborative actions to paintings of a fragmented geometric abstraction, which acquire a "tropical exuberance" or "contingent dynamism" fed by the City.

Keywords : Jaime Gili; South American modernity.
