Abstract

ASSIS, Ana Cláudia de. Abyssus Ascendens ad Aeternum Splendorem: reflection about mystical and gestural ideas in João Pedro Oliveira's work for piano, orchestra and electronics. Estúdio [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.10, pp.69-76. ISSN 1647-6158.

The objective of this paper is to discuss the mystical and gestural ideas in the work Abyssus Ascendens ad Aeternum Splendorem by the Portuguese composer João Pedro Oliveira (1959). We assume that this work, inspired by the composer's perception of the soul-life-eternity trajectory, is constituted as a sound mimesis of this trajectory. As a theoretical basis for our analysis, we resorted to the discussion of the theory of interpretation by T. Adorno done by Mário Vieira de Carvalho (2005).

Keywords : Musical Gesture; João Pedro Oliveira; Work for Piano; orchestra and electronics.
