Abstract
AYRES, Gypson D. J.; NASCIMENTO, José W. B. do and MASCARENHAS*, Nágela M. H.. Breaking of cohesive arches in vertical silos with pneumatic ventilation: A bibliographic review. Rev. de Ciências Agrárias [online]. 2020, vol.43, n.4, pp.42-54. Epub Sep 28, 2020. ISSN 0871-018X. https://doi.org/10.19084/rca.18390.
The review aims to evaluate a technique to solve the formation of cohesive arcs in vertical silos responsible for obstructing the flow of material stored in the silos in the discharge process, demonstrating that the use of lateral pneumatic ventilation is efficient for unblocking flow. The methodology proposes the construction of a reduced model of a silo, depending on the economic viability of the project and functionality. It starts from a journey through the literature referring to a historical perspective of the silos and contribution on the flow of products stored in silos, on the physical properties of stored products, contribution on the hopper as an influential part for the study of the flow of the ensiled product, product storage time as a factor that favors the formation of cohesive arcs, some guidelines on the use of reduced models in research, the possibility of a model with automation, and the use of level sensors in silos. Most of the existing silos in the world do not have ideal operating conditions, their projects are still complex and, often, surrounded by uncertainties.
