Abstract
BARROSO, Paulo. The media-instant sacredness. Sociologia [online]. 2013, vol.25, pp.101-118. ISSN 0872-3419.
Given the post-modern trend and will to trivialize the trivial, I argue the more accurate position to overcome such media-mediocrity is the paradoxical and peculiar non-trivialization. How? With a critical attitude about the most essential social values, preserving a culture that can never become merchandise, popular and fast-culture, according to the Frankfurt School. The aims of this article are: a) to identify the main criteria to understand the media field in contemporary societies that live and depend on popular and banal idolatries; b) to interpret the implications of the designated new communication technologies, useful to the cult of celebrities increasingly globalized, but also immediate and ephemeral.
Keywords : Media-celebrity; Pos-modernity; Public sphere; Triviality.
