Abstract
CORREA, Rafael et al. Social skills and sexual health of adolescents in a border region. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.1, pp.168-177. Epub Apr 30, 2022. ISSN 1645-0086. https://doi.org/10.15309/22psd230116.
To analyze the association between social skills and sexual health in adolescents from a border region. A cross-sectional study carried out with 722 adolescents (328 boys, 394 girls), students from public schools in Foz do Iguaçu in 2016, with an average age of 16 years. Questionnaires were used for data collection. The association of social skills and the study indicators were analyzed in the general group and stratified by gender. Chi-square and Binomial Logistic Regression tests were used. Boys demonstrated a relationship between low social skills and not using a method to prevent pregnancy, low health status classification, not having received guidance on pregnancy prevention at school, not using health services and a greater feeling of loneliness. Girls showed a relationship between low health status rating and lower parental regulation with low social ability. The study demonstrated an association of social skills with broader indicators of adolescent sexual health, pointing out directions for carrying out interventions in social skills in a complementary way in sexual education and health programs for adolescent well-being in the border region.
