Abstract
JOAQUIM, Emanuel Bernardes. Between two realities: the varieties of Realism and the relation between domestic and international structures. Relações Internacionais [online]. 2012, n.36, pp.73-86. ISSN 1645-9199.
The division found between the international and domestic structures in the definition of the states’ international conduct has marked a significant part of the debate on international relations theory. Realism has been the target of criticism on the part of other approaches that tend to associate realism with perspetives that are based essentially on the international sphere, in detriment of the domestic structure. New realist perspetives, ranging from Statism to Structural realism and Neoclassical realism strive to oppose it, by attempting to extend to the domestic sphere the normative and empirical principles of the Classical realism and the Neorealism.
Keywords : realisms; domestic structure; international structure; international relations theory.
