Abstract

TRINDADE, António Oriol. Geometry, linear perspective and theological scale, painting and contemporaneity: What future?. Estúdio [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.10, pp.50-60. ISSN 1647-6158.

This article concerns the impact of the traditional geometric linear perspective, as a strong conceptual tool in certain tracks in the world of visual arts, establishing connections and theoretical and practical bridges, between its use as a theological operational scale during the XV, XVI, XVII and XV centuries, with certain manifestation ways in the contemporary art, in a more profane level, in the form of easel painting but also on a more monumental scale. In the various historical periods, comprising contemporaneity, we can verify, despite the different techniques, the use of some common principles, especially in theoretical bridges launched in the XV century, with some proposals of the twentieth century.

Keywords : Geometry; Perspective; Anamorphosis; Trompe l'oeil.
