Abstract

GARCIA RANEDO, Mar. Transgender and identity in South African photography: Zanele Muholi. Estúdio [online]. 2015, vol.6, n.12, pp.53-62. ISSN 1647-6158.

The work of the South African photographer Zanele Muholi born in 1972 in Umlazi, Durban, brings us to minorities of sexual identity and all conceptualization and interpretation denatured of gender spectrum in the South African context. They are notations of reality as such cause an effect of file. Put in place mechanisms for identification and bonds of likeness and assimilation with community treated as marginal, stigmatized by their "dysfunctional" and that in the South African scenario is segregated, threatened and persecuted.
