Abstract

ESCUDER VIRUETE, Joaquín. The Memory of the Stones: on Loïc Le Groumellec's Painting. Estúdio [online]. 2015, vol.6, n.12, pp.166-174. ISSN 1647-6158.

For over thirty years, Loïc Le Groumellec, painter born in Brittany, shows a repertoire of compelling images unchanged of obsessive iconography so minimal as to provide an insight into the myths of the ancient culture of its place of origin. This article shows how the artist creates an imaginary through a procedure that affects the objectual nature of his work, which places him in a constant declaration of his identity, a remote world, however present and enigmatic yet.

Keywords : painting; primitivism; monochrome; minimal; pantheism.
