Abstract

HERNANDEZ SIMAL, Iratxe. Anthropomorphic Figure and Questioned Identity in the artwork of Juan Muñoz. Estúdio [online]. 2016, vol.7, n.13, pp.138-145. ISSN 1647-6158.

The installations of Juan Muñoz stand out for the recovery of the statuary under an allegorical approach, embodied in a range of figures subjected to depersonalization strategies, whose analysis in relation to their image and scenic staging, explains the questioning of identity in the receptor. Self-recognition expectation, derived from conventional theatrical representation device, becomes problematic by reflecting a multiple, fragmented and strange identity.

Keywords : depersonalization; statuary; theatricality; self recognition.
