Abstract

COLORADO, Jon Martín. Still Movement: the painting of Joseba Eskubi. Estúdio [online]. 2020, vol.11, n.30, pp.101-111.  Epub June 30, 2020. ISSN 1647-6158.

Joseba Eskubi works intensely, explosively. Regardless of medium and technique his works never cease to accumulate massively. This dizzying rhythm contrasts with the still and silent universe that his images suggest. Painting is a daily exercise based on repeating and varying; the theme is the paint itself. Under the watchful eye, this kind of still lifes become mixtures of landscape-figures, fragile constructions, forgotten in time. Poetics of decomposition. An explosion, so slow, that grows invisible.

Keywords : painting; still life; landscape.
