The studies analyzed in this review suggest that the intake of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids during pregnancy could have a protective effect against the children’s development of allergic diseases, both through fish consumption or supplementation. However, controversies persist and many questions about this issue remain unanswered. Therefore it will be need more studies to allow the definition of recommendations for n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids supplementation in pregnancy.
