This article aims to reflect on the knowledge generated and practices of knowledge management developed in a Public Health Service located in the metropolitan area of Belo Horizonte - Minas Gerais, Brazil. We used a case study. The results showed that the stock used as a management tool, are aimed at learning and its management linked to strategic needs of the company. Moreover, said the commitment to use education as a means to obtain better results, such as quality, productivity and innovation in the current organizational environment. It was concluded that the emphasis on creating an infrastructure to grow and share intellectual capital demonstrates that this kind of capital when trained and able to be invested generates value that is delivered where needed at the right time.
