The discipline of Geography has a descriptive component that reveals the construction’s processes of geographical thought of the students and their knowledge structures. The analysis of geographical descriptions and interpretations of students’ Basic Education, at Dr.º Francisco Sanches School, in Braga, allowed us to observe the types of spatial concepts, representations and reasoning that students mobilize the formulation of geographical thought. According to the taxonomy of spatial thinking by Jo and Bednarz (2009) reveals the prevalence of simple-spatial concepts, the use of geographic representations and the mobilization of cognitive process and lower intermediate level. It was still observed the realization of inferences in an autonomous and creative mode.
