Abstract
FURLAN, André and MURARA, Pedro. Risk analysis from the census sector in the urban area of Erechim, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. GOT [online]. 2018, n.13, pp.177-201. ISSN 2182-1267. https://doi.org/10.17127/got/2018.13.008.
The increase of the population residing in urban areas provides beneficial conditions for city dwellers, but also presents new and complex social and environmental problems. In this way, urban environmental problems begin to guide the agendas of urban managers in order to identify vulnerable areas in the cities that are prone to possible risks to the population. This article aims to contribute from a case study carried out in the urban area of Erechim. It focused on identifying areas subject to flood risk and mass movements. To reach this result, it was necessary to use data on the slope of the terrain and survey on the hydrographic network, from these attributes can be measured the danger. To analyze the vulnerability, we used variables from the demographic census that characterize the population socioeconomically. From the data collection on hazard and vulnerability it was possible to distinguish three risk classes (High, Medium and Low). Finally, it was possible to verify the relationship between the results obtained from the mapping stage with the reality identified in the field analysis, thus demonstrating methodological accuracy for the analysis of census tracts that are at risk.
