Abstract
VAZQUEZ, Patricia; ZULAICA, Laura and SOMOZA, Ailín. Agricultural transformations, environmental impacts and ecological zoning. Department of Tres Arroyos (Buenos aires, Argentina): Period 2002 and 2017. GOT [online]. 2019, n.18, pp.209-232. ISSN 2182-1267. https://doi.org/10.17127/got/2019.18.009.
Tres Arroyos department shows a clear tendency to the process of agriculturization. The aim of this work is to analyze the agroproductive transformations in Tres Arroyos during the period 2002-2017 from the use of remote sensing and estimate its impact on biodiversity through a sustainability indicator Risk of Intervention of the Habitat (RIH). It is intended to define landscapes that allow establishing distinctions in the process of agriculturization and its impacts within the territory studied through a preliminary zoning. Two supervised classifications (ENVI software 5.1) of satellite images were carried out. Then the data provided by the images for the Department in conjunction with the corresponding equation of RIH were applied. There is evidence of an increase in the agricultural area by 53.31% between both years to the detriment of the livestock areas (38.70%) and an increase in the RIH of 12%. During the period a structural and functional simplification of the ecological units and of the agricultural landscapes is manifested. It is concluded that this investigation will contribute to the environmental management of the study area for a future territorial planning.
