Abstract
PEREIRA, LUCIANO SCHAEFER and MEDEIROS, THIAGO GOMES. A LOOK AT EX SITU GEODIVERSITY AROUND JOÃO PESSOA SQUARE, JOÃO PESSOA, PARAÍBA, NORTHEAST BRAZIL. GOT [online]. 2022, n.23, pp.20-34. Epub July 30, 2022. ISSN 2182-1267. https://doi.org/10.17127/got/2022.23.002.
The surroundings of João Pessoa square have buildings and monuments of undeniable political, cultural, historical and artistic importance, some dating back to the beginning of the foundation of the city. The Court of the Justice and Jesuit set stand out, attracting a large flow of tourists. In the center of the square, the monument to João Pessoa was erected, formed by a granite that does not exist in situ in the municipality. Other varied and rare lytic types decorate these buildings internally. Its constructions, human settlements, uses of land and sea, among other apparatuses are consequences of certain natural conditions ideal for the creation of human labor, which resulted in the urban expansion of João Pessoa city. In this work an integrated evaluation was made between the diverse elements of the geodiversity and the heritage in question, through the analysis of documentation produced during the colonial period, in the form of texts, letters and iconographies and field work, since this relation still is practically without research and dissemination, in an interdisciplinary dialogue between geodiversity and culture.
