Abstract
RODRIGUES-FERNANDES, Hugo et al. Psychometric properties of the Philadelphia Mindfulness Scale considering Portuguese smokers and non-smokers. PsychTech [online]. 2021, vol.5, n.1, pp.42-53. Epub Sep 29, 2021. ISSN 2184-1004. https://doi.org/10.26580/pthj.art35-2021.
Mindfulness, as a psychological process, has been a subject of a growing interest in scientific research. This study aimed to examine the reliability, factor validity, and measurement invariance (smokers and non-smokers) a Portuguese version of Philadelphia Mindfulness Scale (PHLMS). The sample consisted of 315 Portuguese adults between 18 and 62 years (M = 23.14; SD = 7.286) whit 110 smokers and 205 non-smokers. The estimate of reliability for awareness size was .861 and .868 for the subscale acceptance. The confirmatory factor analysis showed a model adjusted to two factors without removing items. The multi-groups analysis supported the invariance of the instrument between smokers and non-smokers. The results show significant psychometric properties of PHLMS for use in research in Portuguese samples of adults.
