ALMEIDA, Veronica Lima da Fonseca. Professional Identity and Teaching Practice on Teaching Portuguese Sign Language in Portugal. Sisyphus [online]. 2024, vol.12, n.1, pp.154-176. Epub May 01, 2024. ISSN 2182-8474. https://doi.org/10.25749/sis.32609.
From an anthropological perspective, it is intended to reflect on the education of the deaf and the formation of the professional identity of deaf teachers and their practices on the teaching of Portuguese Sign Language (LGP) in Portugal. The exploratory qualitative methodology was adopted through case studies, in institutions of the public education system of the cities of Coimbra, Porto and Lisbon, carrying out interviews and observation. Discursive practices were analysed from the perspective of the narrative of positions that informed the socio-historical process of professional identity and teaching practice on the teaching of LGP today. The results show the formation of the professional identity constituted by a relational identity that articulates the life trajectories and the development of the LGP training teacher and presents pedagogical practices with different forms of pedagogies on the teaching of LGP with political and institutional implications for formal LGP teaching.
