Abstract
CHAKALI, Gahdab. The Pine Shoot Beetle, Tomicus destruens Wollaston 1865 (Coleoptera-Scolytidae) in Semi-Arid Areas. Silva Lus. [online]. 2005, vol.13, n.1, pp.113-124. ISSN 0870-6352.
Aleppo pine, Pinus halepensis Mill. is commonly attacked by Tomicus destruens. Severe damage is therefore observed in pine forests growing in semi-arid areas. Forestry losses are extremely important. In his natural environment, T. destruens has one generation per year. During their development imagoes feed on young spring shoots. Females cause the second type of damage by digging galleries between bark and sapwood whilst lying their eggs. Biological and ecological records are presented and discussed in this work.
