Abstract

DA SILVA, Jaqueline; ALENCAR, Allana; DAS NEVES SALLES, William  and  RESENDE, Rui. The teaching of dance in school physical education: An experience report based on learner-centered theory. Rev. Port. de Educação [online]. 2022, vol.35, n.2, pp.148-166.  Epub Feb 15, 2022. ISSN 0871-9187.  https://doi.org/10.21814/rpe.18801.

This study aimed to describe a dance teaching experience in school physical education based on constructivist principles of learner-centered teaching. With a descriptive qualitative nature, this study is characterized as an experience report. The experiment was carried out in 2018, in a municipal public school in the city of Blumenau (SC), Brazil, with 311 students from 6th, 7th and 8th grades of elementary school. Despite the occurrence of certain episodes of prejudice, resistance and student discomfort due to body contact with peers, it was found that the development of dance in school physical education based on the principles of learner-centered teaching favored the occurrence of challenging and innovative teaching-learning experiences in the investigated environment.
