Abstract
OLIVEIRA, Rui. Are party typologies capable of predicting behavior? An exploratory essay. Sociologia [online]. 2021, vol.41, pp.82-91. Epub Feb 25, 2022. ISSN 0872-3419. https://doi.org/10.21747/08723419/soc41a5.
Party typologies, which classify parties from the perspective of their organization, professionalization, membership, intra-party democracy, political communication and campaign strategies, leadership, among others, are a theoretical and empirical instrument for a variety of research projects on political parties, political competition and representation. This article presents a proposal for analysis that seeks to incorporate, in a more systematic way, the relationship between the type of party and political outcomes and party competition, in order to provide clues for a broader study on the party typologies' ability to predict behavior.
Keywords : party typologies; political outcomes; party competition.
