Abstract

SILVA, Ciro Lopes da  and  SAMPA, Pascoal Jorge. Língua portuguesa na Guiné-Bissau e a influência do crioulo na identidade cultural e no português. RILP [online]. 2017, vol.31, pp.229-245.  Epub July 28, 2021. ISSN 2182-4452.  https://doi.org/10.31492/2184-2043.rilp2017.31/pp.231-247.

Guinea-Bissau is a fundamentally multilingual and multicultural country, with more than 20 ethnic groups and their respective languages. In addition to these ethnic languages, there is also in the Guinean language scene the Creole language, spoken by more than 90.4% of the population, representing the country’s main means of communication, compared to the Portuguese language, which corresponds to a percentage of 27.1% of speakers. Based on these initial motivations, this article intends to observe the conflicts between the Portuguese language and the Creole in Guinea-Bissau, demonstrating the evolution of culture (music and cinema) through that language. As for the research methodology, we opted for a descriptive approach in order to demonstrate the peculiarities of the Guinean, Portuguese and Creole people spoken in the country.

Keywords : Creole Language; Guinea Bissau; Variation and Change; Culture.
