Abstract

FARELO, Mário. Perspectives of work on apostolic taxation in Portugal (1309-1377). População e Sociedade [online]. 2019, n.31, pp.24-47.  Epub June 01, 2021. ISSN 0873-1861.

The study of the taxation of the Popes of Avignon in the kingdom of Portugal has a past, a present and a future. These three stages will be addressed through an analysis of the evolution of the theme within Portuguese historiography, of the typology of sources conserved in the Vatican Archive to that extend and their respective potentialities for a better understanding of the activities, organization, relations and implications of the presence of the Apostolic Chamber in the Portuguese kingdom between 1309 and 1377.

Keywords : apostolic taxation; collector; Apostolic Chamber; historiography; Papacy of Avignon.
