Abstract
GOMES, Eliane; MELLO, João; NETO, Luiz and MEZA, Lidia. Highways management: Brazilian Federal toll highways efficiency analysis. Rev. Portuguesa e Brasileira de Gestão [online]. 2012, vol.11, n.2-3, pp.55-62. ISSN 1645-4464.
In recent years, the operation of several highways has been privatized. The assessment of the services carried out by the concessionaire companies is done usually using qualitative methods. This work proposes the use of a quantitative method based on Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) in the assessment of five federal toll highways. Four models are used, two partial and two global models - that aggregate the partial model results - having variables relatively to the collect toll units, road traffic, number of accidents, investments and the full road width. The obtained results indicate that this approach may be used successfully in the determination of a unique quality index, because the approach does not require any sort of queries by use of questionnaires answered by the users.
