Resumen

LIMBERGER, Silvia Cristina  y  TULLA, Antoni. The emergence of microbreweries in the face of the oligopolization of the brewing sector (Brazil and in Spain). Finisterra [online]. 2017, n.105, pp.93-110. ISSN 0430-5027.  https://doi.org/10.18055/Finis10404.

The saturation of the traditional beer market in developed countries from the decade of 1970 has brought new elements to the analysis of the sector. The large companies began to expand their markets to countries where consumption was increasing, as well as increasing investments in the diversification of production. In Brazil and Spain, multinational corporations arrived in the 1990s and efforts to produce new beers came to fruition in the 2000s, starting with the initiative of home producers and the creation of microbreweries. However, the production of special high-value beers has also become a strategy for large companies as a way to diversify their product portfolio. It is important to mention that Brazil and Spain have different socio-spatial formations, and that therefore it is not so simple to carry out a comparative study. This study aims, above all, to demonstrate that capital concentration and the formation of oligopoly economies are processes intrinsic to the capitalist mode of production and are diffused in any system where it predominates, in the same way, that the processes of creation of microbreweries and diversification of production are intensified

Palabras clave : Brewer oligopoly; microbreweries; diversification of production; Brazil; Spain.
