Resumen

FONTES, Natacha et al. Late traumatic birth complication. Nascer e Crescer [online]. 2014, vol.23, n.3, pp.161-163. ISSN 0872-0754.

Introduction: Subcutaneous fat necrosis is a rare transient disorder of adipose tissue mostly affecting term or post-term newborns with perinatal complications. Case report: Full-term neonate, large for gestational age, with a complicated vaginal birth, requiring resuscitation. Skin lesions compatible with NGTS, which resolved without complications, were noted at 13 days of life. Discussion: We report a case of subcutaneous fat necrosis with a benign evolution, just to remind this uncommon entity. The pathogenesis is poorly understood and although it tends to resolve spontaneously, an eventful associated hypercalcaemia may have a fatal outcome.

Palabras clave : Cutaneous lesions; hypercalcaemia; newborn; subcutaneous fat necrosis.
