ARAGAO, Caroline et al. Harm reduction practices in alcohol and other drug users. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.3, pp.928-940.  Epub 31-Dic-2022. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/22psd230328.

Harm Reduction practices are an attempt to include users of alcohol and other drugs in the therapeutic plan and adapt beneficial interventions. This study aims to identify care practices in harm reduction among users of alcohol and other drugs. The evidence presented in the integrative review on harm reduction was analyzed in the Lilacs, Web of Science, Scielo and Pubmed databases. After analysis by two independent authors, 10 studies were included in the final sample. The results were segregated into three themes: strategies and programs found that aim at preventing damage; guidance on self-care and harm reduction and guidance for health professionals on harm reduction. The main guidelines of the three themes deal with the attendance to health and social assistance services, abstinence, alcohol consumption, educational and preventive interventions, referral to specialized services, formation of a therapeutic environment that favors the creation of bonds and substitution therapies. The strategies and guidelines identified can collaborate in the development of interventions to improve the living and health conditions of individuals in order to keep drug addicts inserted in the health care and social assistance network.
