Resumen
PAULO, Luiz Fernando Barbosa de et al. Conservative treatment of central giant cell granuloma in a pediatric patient - Case report. Rev Port Estomatol Med Dent Cir Maxilofac [online]. 2022, vol.63, n.4, pp.237-243. Epub 30-Dic-2022. ISSN 1646-2890. https://doi.org/10.24873/j.rpemd.2022.12.885.
The giant cell granuloma is part of a group of osteolytic lesions that can affect patients of different ages, has uncertain etiology, and has been widely discussed. A 10-year-old patient presented with a volumetric increase on the right mandibular body, diagnosed as a central giant cell granuloma. The proposed treatment was the application of intralesional corticosteroids.
After 8 months of treatment, the remission of the lesion was noted, with bone neoformation. Treatment for central giant cell granuloma can be surgical or conservative, and conservative treatment is an excellent option for pediatric patients because it generates fewer functional and aesthetic problems for the patient. This report confirms its good indication as the patient shows no signs of lesion recurrence after 42 months of follow-up.
