Resumen

BRAZAO, Maria da Luz  y  NOBREGA, Sofia. Complications/Sequelae after SARS-CoV-2 Infection: Literature Review. Medicina Interna [online]. 2021, vol.28, n.2, pp.62-72.  Epub 01-Sep-2021. ISSN 0872-671X.  https://doi.org/10.24950/r/mlbrazao/snobrega/2/2021.

The COVID-19 disease appeared in December 2019 and since then it has spread all over the world, forcing the adaptation of structures and reorganization of hospital services, and posing to the medical profession the great challenge of, in record

time, updating and maintaining itself in constant learning.

For the survivors of this disease, the elimination of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is just the beginning of an uncertain and unknown recovery path. In fact, according to current knowledge, what follows the acute phase of SARS-CoV-2 infection depends on the extent and severity of viral invasion in different types of cells and organs, but despite the growing number of articles published in the past year, there is still no clear description of a typical clinical picture of the consequences of COVID-19.

Aiming for a better understanding of this issue, the authors make a general review of literature regarding complications/ sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection.
