Resumen

SILVA, Ana Maria Costa e  y  CUNHA, Sílvia. Training of Social Mediators in Europe: a pilot project. Rev. Port. de Educação [online]. 2019, vol.32, n.1, pp.173-189. ISSN 0871-9187.

One of the challenges of today's society is to face with determination and quality the consequences of the multiple social, economic and political fragilities that are experienced worldwide. The several countries and organizations are thus committed to an urgent and adequate response to the fragility of social peace, in particular through strategies for the prevention and peaceful resolution of conflicts. Social mediation is one of the key strategies for promoting peace, justice and social cohesion. In order to respond to the recommendations contained in official European documents on the importance of social mediators in the construction of peaceful communities, a project financed by the European Community was implemented between 2013 and 2016, with the participation of five European countries. The main objective of the project was to design and experiment a training system for social mediators, inspired by the tradition of the Companions of the Tour de France through a collaborative action-research-training methodology. The methodology adopted was adequate for the continuous training and professionalization of social mediators and for the creation of a cooperation network between different institutions and professionals. The results show the appropriateness of the device in the achievement of the defined objectives and in the construction of a European area of ??mediation for social inclusion.

Palabras clave : Social mediation; Mediators; Training; Collaborative action research.
