INGLEZ, Sofia d'Aboim; TRUNINGER, Mónica y VASCONCELOS, Pedro. Notas sobre as Representações Sociais e o Habitu: Esboço de uma análise comparada. Psicologia [online]. 1996, vol.11, n.2-3, pp.139-158. ISSN 0874-2049. https://doi.org/10.17575/rpsicol.v11i2/3.607.
This paper tries to make a brief critical analysis of two major concepts in Sociology and Social Psychology: P. Bourdieu's concept of habitus and S. Moscovici's concept of «social representations». One seeks to demonstrate how both concepts, having their origin in different disciplines, are attempts to overcome traditional paradigmatic dichotomies in social Sciences (objectivism versus subjectivism). Attempts which have much in common, but which, nevertheless, are not able to escape neither their respective disciplinary insertions, nor some theoretical conducting aspects grounded on those traditions, i.e., the excessive reproductiveness of Bourdieu's Field Theory and the reduction to mere non structural group interactions of the social processes by which social representations are constructed in Moscovici's theoretical approach.
