MARTA, Margarida; LOPES, Amélia; PEREIRA, Fátima y LEITE, Madalena. The professional relevance of initial education of teachers and nurses in higher education: une analyse des identités des formateurs. Rev. Lusófona de Educação [online]. 2014, n.27, pp.75-91. ISSN 1645-7250.
The relationship between higher education institutions and workplaces is a capstone to analyse professional higher education. Considering identity and identity construction as an ecological construct, this paper focuses on that relationship aiming to identify what is common and different between educators in training institutions and workplaces and how the respective professional field impact on those relationships. The research study was conducted with educators in a nurse education course and in a teacher education course, and data were gathered through the Inventory of psychosocial identity followed by a semi structured interview. Findings indicate that teacher and nurse educators are similar in which concerns the educators’ personal and professional features they emphasize and the way they valued the profile of the future professional to define themselves as educators. The perspectives of the educators in the field of training and those in the professional fields vary according to the place of their principal occupation. Nurse and teacher educators diverge in aspects related with the area of knowledge they belong to.
