^lpt^aA partir da análise sociológica do colapso da Ponte Hintze Ribeiro, neste artigo salientam-se as potencialidades analíticas de uma sociologia com desastres, que se caracteriza por atender à interação entre gestão política da crise induzida pelo desastre, mediatização do acontecimento, e poder interpelativo do sofrimento e da morte. A produção discricionária de exceção amplia a distância entre Estado e cidadãos, reforçando o poder do primeiro ao mesmo tempo que acentua o desapossamento de poder dos segundos.^len^aBased on the collapse of Hintze Ribeiro’s bridge in Portugal this article highlights the analytic possibilities of a sociology with disasters. This sociology takes into account interaction between the political management of crisis induced by the disaster, the event mediatisation and the interpellative power of suffering and death. The discretionary production of exception amplifies the distance between the state and the citizens, reforming the power of the first and augmenting the dis-power of the left.
