REY, Rosario Mascato. From Type Case to Stage: Modernity and Poetic Performance in Spain (1905-1936). []. , 26, 3, pp.245-262. ISSN 0807-8967.

By the beginning of 20th Century, poetry reading becomes a forum for the exchange of literary ideas and for the experimentation of new aesthetic and identitary proposals. The rupture with traditional repertoires and the opening of new directions enables those present in them to recycle their own notions of art and their relations with the culture of the expanding literary field. Poetry declamation allows, on one hand, to break the sequenced structure of the type case, establishing the real implications of the melodic text, in another expression of its ephemeral nature; on the other, it gives shape to its most visual aspects, by adding those mechanisms usual to theatrical representation. Because all of this, poetry interpretation - as a modern performative practique - is an element of interest for Spanish writers of the time.
