^lpt^aO Branco Azul Belga (BBB) é uma raça bovina para cruzamentos terminais que, através de exposição em feiras, tem vindo a tentar convencer os criadores nacionais do seu interesse. Estamos como é lógico perante um efeito de marketing! Este trabalho pretende demonstrar, como contributo, o que realmente acontece quando utilizamos os touros BBB (via inseminação artificial), comparativamente com os touros de raça Charolesa, em termos de resposta reprodutiva e produtiva. Foi interessante o incremento de peso desmamado (+15%), assim como a quase inexistência de distócias (vacas todas multíparas). No entanto, a nível da inseminação artificial como instrumento zootécnico, temos de focar o incremento das dificuldades de maneio, que podem desencorajar os criadores, para a respectiva utilização.^len^aThe Belgian Blue White (BBB), is a beef cattle breed for terminal crossings that have come, through exposition in fairs, trying to convince the national cattleman about its interest. We are as it is logical before a marketing effect! This work intends to demonstrate, as contribution, what really happens when we use BBB bulls (by artificial insemination), still compared with the bulls of Charolesa breed, in terms of reproductive and productive reply. The increment of weaned weight through BBB was interesting (+15%), as well as almost the inexistence of distocia (all mature cows). However, about the artificial insemination, as a livestock instrument, we have to point out the increment of the difficulties of management that can discourage the producers, for the use of the BBB breed.
