SANTOS, Ana et al. Pheromones testing on the Chestnut Moth, Cydia Splendana (Hubner) (Lepidoptera: Torticidae) monitoring on Terceira island, Azores. []. , 35, 2, pp.292-297. ISSN 0871-018X.

Chestnut moth, Cydia splendana, is the most important pest affecting the chestnut production on Terceira Island, Azores, responsible by important damages at the quality level. To evaluate the economic impact of this pest, was determinated the fruits infestation rate on a sample of 500 fruits collected in each parcel, in total of 6 parcels 4 of them distributed at the southern part of the Island in the villages of Terra-Chã and S. Pedro and 2 on the northern part, at Biscoitos. In 2010, from July to October, 3 sexual pheromones specific for this specie: Oecos, Pherobank and Syngenta were tested in an orchard in the village of Terra-Chã in a survey in which the pheromones were distributed in Delta traps arranged alternately, spaced 25m between them. The results obtained points to Pherobank pheromone as the more efficient (75%) in capturing the chestnut adults in Terceira climatic conditions.
