Virtual colonoscopy is an imaging method which permits large bowel visualization through images acquired by computerized tomography. The authors present a clinical case of a 73 years old woman, who was initially observed in the emergency department with complaints of fatigue and weight loss; blood tests showed a microcytic anemia. At optical colonoscopy a malignant stenosis at the sigmoid colon was detected. In order to evaluate the remaining colon a virtual colonoscopy was performed which showed a second tumour at the hepatic flexure. Atotal colectomy was performed with no surgical complications.
