GRACA, Marta. Sex workers and collective action: initiatives in the Portuguese context. []. , 89, pp.115-132. ISSN 0873-6529.  https://doi.org/10.7458/SPP2019898973.

The sex workers’ rights movement is very significant at international level. In this paper, we present a reflection about the current (im)possibility of collective action, in Portugal. Firstly, we contextualize the emergence of the worldwide movement and attempts of collective action, in Portugal. Secondly, we describe the difficulties encountered in a participatory action research in transforming subjectivities to collective action. We conclude that despite some collective action efforts, the mobilization of resources is still needed for an organized movement’s consolidation.

: sex work; collective action; social movements.
