SILVA, Rosa; PIRES, Regina    VILELA, Carlos. Supervision of nursing students during clinical education - Systematic literature review. []. , serIII, 3, pp.113-122. ISSN 0874-0283.

The preparation of nurses for supervising nursing students during clinical education is needed in training contexts and in clinical practice. To assume that being a nurse is to have responsibility to participate actively in students’ educative processes, without seeking as a clinical supervisor to know their difficulties, is to contribute to deficient pedagogical practices. With the objectives of 1) knowing the opinions of nurses on carrying out supervision, 2) identifying the difficulties in carrying out supervision and 3) identifying the needs of nurses in the performance of supervision, we conducted an analysis of the best evidence available. In the scientific databases, using research articles, 68 articles were found, and of these eight were selected. Proctor’s model was adopted to analyze the results. The results point to a range of supervisor needs including specific training in the clinical area concerned, skills training and formalization of guidelines on the roles of many of the stakeholders - nurses, schools and health organizations. Based on this study, we conclude that both the profession and nursing practice itself would gain by (re) structuring supervision processes in terms of the quality of nurses’ training and professional practice.
