Background: The working conditions of solid waste collectors (SWC) expose them constantly to occupational risks. Objectives: To describe the occupational profile and exposure of SWC from a municipality of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Methodology: A quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive study was conducted with 43 SWC from a municipality of Minas Gerais, Brazil, in 2015. Results: This group of workers is mostly composed of young men in a stable union, with a low level of education, who reported being satisfied with their work, despite claiming to be often exposed to occupational risks. Conclusion: There is a need for interventions focused on the workers' health, which include actions to promote health and prevent risks and injuries among these workers.
